I have a 1989 205 gti on the back of the block there are 2 senders one for the temperature gauge and one for the temperature light I am trying to identify which sender is which and what colour wires go on each
If some has a photo or a means of identifying what goes where that would be great
Thanks

I think you can identify the warning light switch with a multimeter because it will be either zero (coolant hot) or infinity (coolant cold). The other one is resistive and will have some range of values.

As for the wires, if you bridge them together the gauges should tell you.

Can't remember but the warning light switch might actually only have one spade coming out of it if it works by earthing the contact.

Not sure if this helps
On the Xu9j4, XU10J4 and XU7JP4, probably others too.
Blue is gauge
Brown is fans
Green is ECU

Not on a 205. The two sensors are brass and look almost identical. As suggested, a multimeter is the only way to test if you don't have one to compare with.

Touching the wire(s) against ground will reveal which wire is which. Just flick it against ground however, as it will cause a full scale deflection on the temp gauge.

47A is gauge
47 is light
