Hi guys,
was just trawling this site;
<a href="http://perso.wanadoo.fr/amicale.r15r17/competitionhtm." target="_blank">http://perso.wanadoo.fr/amicale.r15r17/competitionhtm.</a>
Most of you have probably come across it before..
The mags that these cars have - in particular the one with the R12 and R17 in the same pic..are these like rocking horse s..t or what? Are they 13's or 14's and does anyone know what size tyres they ran on in those days?
Anyway, I was wondering about fat tyres for this R17 wreck I am gonna get. It has got 13* (i think)5's cromodora mags on it. Are 185/60/13's the fattest tyre that these rims will safely hold on to? I realise that this will put the speedo out- but that doesn't bother me too much as it'll be out from the 5spd box conversion anyhow.
Another thing- rolling the guards- does it work and how much extra width could you expect to pack under there once it's been done? - is there a cheap way to do it (flare the guards) at home- that doesn't involve a hammer? mallet
Is there a website with the specs that these cars ran on in the 70's , I'm not just talking about wheels, but motors too.
Cheers Ben
