what to look for when buying a 205gti S3

as the topic states, i'm looking for an imaculate 205gti s3, just want to know where to look for rust in them and for any known problems

Hi,

I brought one this year what an amazing car! I highly doubt it would have rust unless it has been repaired before. Check to see when services have been done, when the timing belt has been done. check driveshafts for leaks and front suspension for rattles. leather seat foam can fall to bits. check seals on motor eg rocker cover and dissy and also check power steering for leaks. Other than that drive it and you'll never want to leave it alone for more than 10 mins. You will find every tight corner and drive through it faster and faster. They are the best cars!!! Need anything for it just give us a bell.

I bought one about 2 and half years ago and can't get enough of it. Check the leather to see if the stiching has pulled, if so the leather has started to dry and needs attention, the drivers seat comes apart so check for any obvious signs. The gearbox can be a problem,though it is rare, first gear went on mine and my cousin is having trouble with second on his S3, check the above as mentioned by GTi Revoultion,check the wheels for curbing as they stick out a bit from the tyre they can be easily scraped and if you find one take it to a Pug mechanic and get their verdict, i know Charles St Auto in Adelaide (anyone know someone in Sydney)offers this service for a small fee and they can find problems often overlooked. if you find one.. take it to portapug in tempe. THey are brilliant and will take the time. P504 are a pack of arseholes and I wouldn't go there.. same as esscargo / e&a sports / northshore rallysport.. they suck too!!!

But the guys are portapug will take the time to go over it closely....
