The import of cars from France to Australia is dependent upon the volume production of RHD cars for the UK market. So changes in that market will affect the supply of vehicles to Australia.
The British market slumped badly in February, down around 35%. Renault and Dacia have fairly modest February sales of around 1000, Peugeot around 2000 and Citroen 1000. The big seller for Stellantis is Vauxhall with around 5000 sales and the third placed best selling model. But this week Tavares made it clear that the Port Ellesmere Vauxhall factory would be closed when the UK enforces a change to electric cars in 2030. The SMMT is campaigning hard, maintaining car sales will be halved. As a compromise hybrids will be allowed until 2035 although Tesla is lobbying against that.
Tavares made it clear the UK had no place in Stellantis plans to produce electric cars. This recalls the Peugeot take over of Rootes where the factories were closed and the Rootes sales did not transfer to Peugeot. Tavares indicated the UK would be supplied with hybrids and electric vehicles from other European factories.

The denizens of one of the industries birthplaces of "badge engineering" will surely continue to buy anything that has an old British name stuck onto it?

Tavares leaves open the option of staying in return for British government subsidies such as were offered when Peugeot took over Rootes. He gives the impression of being a hard nosed operator with no time for unprofitable operations.
Dacia are offering the Spring, the cheapest electric car on the UK market but one with a modest power output (45 bhp) and performance.
