so it looks like i can get a set of citroen c5 15x6 alloy steelies and some tyres for real cheap

but im not sure if the tyres will fit

they're 185/65/R15.. wondering if they'd fit a 205 SI with standard springs

thanks guys

No, you would need to go to a lower profile tyre, common sizing for the gti being 195/50/15. On my Si, I'm thinking of trying to find some 185/50/15 tyres when I put on my 15's.

Bear in mind that the Si has different rear arch shape to GTi. Leart that the hard way.

What size did you try to fit?
Has anyone modified their Si wheel arches?
I reckon I will have the same problem.

I test fitted one of my cyclone rims which had a 195/55/15 tyre on the rear of my Si and seemed like it should fit without rubbing but I didn't drive anywhere though.

Thanks Tim, I've 195 60 14s on the back of mine at the moment, not rubbing on the wheel arches.

the widest recommended tyre for a 15x6" wheel is 195. i have seen C5 steelies fitted with 205 wide track tyres but this size is uncommon in 15". the nominal size for pug 205 15" wheels is 185/55 though 195/50 is commonly used due to price & availability + it won't put your speedo out too much.

with the C5 steelies, check that the wheel bolts have a tapered end rather than a flat end... AFAIK, there was a recall on the latter due to the wheels cracking near the bolt holes.

c5 rims on si

they fit on the back nicely but stick out past the guards on the front by about 1/2"
i think there is 50mm difference between front and rear track on the si. the front being wider.
