In Italian sorry. But genuinely fascinating modifications in engine construction technology as compared to our old known and beloved powerplants. I esp like the offset crank and decisionmaking around piston construction and coating technology to compensate for that old killer of engine bores- thrust side wear and ovaling. Note bearings on the crankshaft and clever use of balance shafts.

For all it’s advanced engineering features, it simply emphasises the remarkable brilliance of the 1.6 Prince version which powers our C4 Picasso.
I have tens of thousands of kms experience in both of these vehicles and the 1.6 auto gives 18km/l (the long term display is 5.2/100 on E10........official ‘combined’ - 5.6) compared to the 308 1.2’s 20 on PULP95.
The C4P is slightly heavier and significantly larger frontal area with
(apparently) 33% more mechanical friction and yet realistically better fuel efficiency.
Both are/were driven for maximum economy.
