Should be a good year with maybe 25 cars, and who knows how many will come to the F1 meetimg from overseas?

Cheers.
Chris.

I see there is no Tassie round

Nor WA, haha. I can understand this, they are running again as part of Shannons Nationals, a relatively low cost series, and transport costs would be prohibitive for these guys. (More so for WA than Tassie).

Cheers.

Who says Renault aren't promoting the product in Australia. At least they are backing the Meganes heavily in TCR racing, and involvement is increasing for 2020, starting with the Melbourne F1 GP in March.
And with free-to-air coverage on Ch 7 in 2020, there is plenty of coverage to be had.
Also Garry Rogers Motorsport has partnered with the Swiss builder of the Megane TCR to carry out more development in Australia, with a new and upgraded car coming.

Another Frenchman is coming out to pilot a Peugeot 308 TCR in the Asia Pacific Cup round at the Formula One opener at Albert Park in March.
Julien Briche who came second the TCR Europe competition in 2019 driving for Peugeot Sport will bring a number of engineers from the squad for the round.
He will race the Garry Rogers Motorsport 308 TCR driven by Aurelien Comte at the Bend last year.
Jason Bargwanna will drive the other 308.

There is a free entry practice day at Winton on Wed 26th Feb for anyone interested. Approx 30 cars are expected.

Just announced that Aaron Cameron will drive a third 308 TCR this year in both the opening Asia Pacific Round and the full season with GRM.
Cameron 20, finished third in the Championship last year driving a Golf GTI where he took one win and five podiums.
Great to see at least 5, possibly 6 French cars competing this year.

Agreed. Should be a good year if racing! Looking forward to watching the 308s in action.

Worth noting that TCR Australia have decided to use Michelin tyres as the brand of choice. Most other countries have chosen Yokohama's Advan. With the invitational international drivers yet to deal with the differences, it should give our local drivers an early advantage. However Nestor Girolami showed his class and came to terms early with the Michelins at Sandown last year with a 3 out of 3 clean sweep.

I did the trip up to Winton yesterday to check out the TCR cars prior to their first non points outing at the F1 GP next month.
Naturally the French cars were of particular interest.
Aaron Cameron & Jason Bargwanna were there to test the 2 new 308's and James Moffatt and Dylan O'keeffe the two Renault Meganes.
Apparently GRM have been working closely with Vukovic Motorsport who build the Megane TCR cars and getting suggested changes homologated for them.
Spent time talking to one of GRM's 308 mechanics about both the cars. He was really impressed by Peugeot Sport's build quality of the 308.
It was a great day and the lap times close. The top 11 cars were separated by 6/10's second.

Better than nothing, and after all the GP is the main event. Plenty of TV time for me, maybe too much?

Cheers.

Edit: BTW, the TCR grid is final at 22 cars, some of the teams have pulled out, but still the biggest field yet, with plenty of Renault Meganes and Peugeots.

Soft, they should just come race at SMSP.
