T-bar auto Renault 19

Does anyone in this forum know how to remove the T-bar top off the renault 19 automatic? I am looking at replacing it with something more sportier?

It looks like the top opens and then you unscrew it possibly. Does anyone know how a complete beginner goes about it all?

I haven't seen the 19 T-Bar, but I'd assume it contains part of the release machanism for the lever (a button?) so you probably can't replace it, unless you find a knob made specifically for replacing the T handle. Reckon your chances would be very slim...

I omce went to fairfield and saw them in a display cabinet out there but was never sure if they would fit or not. I cant find a number for that marketplace either.

Does anyone know any measurements i may need to note down. The owners guide has nothing in it. May have to check the old Haynes guide.
