40 BHP for a Dauphine Gordini sounds about right. A standard Dauphine was around 30 BHP so a 33% increase in power wasn't bad.

Have a somewhat different view of a Gordini in full flight.
Old newspaper cutting of John Ould at the first Autocross event at Calder in the 70's(?) - note says that it eventually got back onto its wheels and that Ould walked away from it! Love the way that doors ,bonnet etc.. could fly open!

Thats an R8. Looks like those swing axles bit him - they have a nasty habit of digging in the rims and tucking under under extreme cornering with the standard skinny rims - fat tyres help a lot. I once met a guy who claimed to have rolled an R10 at 80 mph and survived. Apparently all the doors flying open acted to slow the rate of the barrel roll and reduced the severity of the whole nasty incident.
