Good story today in the Fin Review of their motoring writer Tony Davis restoring a Pug 406 Coupe. Unfortunately needs subscription for full access but you'll get the gist. Or go old school and buy the printed paper version from one of them Newsagency places. ;)

Very interesting read. It is an instalment of a multi-part piece, but all the links are there. Continental Cars (mechanicals), and SA Car & Furniture Upholstery and Pro Auto Repairs (paint) get favourable mentions.

The web version is quite readable if you think about how they implemented the paywall overlay and cut you off.

That is exactly the approach that I want to take on a couple of my cars - the paint & upholstery "restoration" was particularly interesting. However I just don't know how I'd go about finding these reasonably priced specialists out in the bush - in the big cities you've got competition apart from anything else.

As a minor example, this year I'm finding no one will do a rego check for me without booking it in 2 weeks in advance!!!

Yeah, the benefits of living 'far from the madding crowd' are offset by some things unfortunately, but I suspect he got a few cut rates due to the publicity these guys received for their work on his pride and joy. Good to see someone who gets to drive so many exotic vehicles see the love of a good French one..
