Hi,

The passenger side ram that drives the roof mechanism is leaking hydraulic fluid. Looks like a seal needs replacing.
  • boot.png shows the location of the ram behind the plastic cover.
  • ram_from_front_2.png shows the ram within the roof opening mechanism.
  • ram_from_front.png shows the ram open from the front.
  • ram_from_top.png shows the top of the ram with the hydraulic hoses that lead to the pump. They are marked 20, 21.
  • leak_from_below.png shows the leak from below. I've put tissue there to soak up the hydraulic fluid.
Now to the questions:)
  1. How can I disconnect the ram from the mechanism without breaking anything?
  2. How can I disconnect the hoses from the ram and be able to reattach them later? I want to tape these up to stop them leaking.
  3. Any suggestions other than removing the hoses and taping them up to temporarily stop the ram leaking?
  4. Any recommendations where I can source this part? Does anyone have a part number? To buy this new will cost thousands, if I can get it at all. I might be able to get it fixed by a specialist company but have to get it out first.
  5. Does anyone have or can refer me to documentation for the hydraulics system? My Haynes manual is next to useless for anything i've had to do with this car.
Many thanks in advance for any help.

Thank you Seasink. It's a shame they just skipped the ram i'm having trouble with and just took off the whole boot mechanism.
But seeing how they remove some of the clips is helpful to avoid breaking them. Don't seem to disconnect any hoses. I'll try to find more videos from similar vehicles. Hopefully there is more information.

@seasink i've just realised, from looking at
at 1:28 that it's actually an actuator for the parcel shelf. Was confusing me why the roof mechanism actuators were at 4 corners.
