I need access to the socket as I need to get a new 'key' programmed. The switch that allows the console to slide backwards and forwards, or whatever it activates, has gone on strike. It moved once after the dealer explained he couldn't do anything without access to the socket. Now it is stuck fully forward (I need it fully back I think).

The Haynes manual is not helpful - you have to move the console to access teh screws to remove it...

Any suggestions out there please?

Duck found it.... :)

Could be important here, I think our Kangoo II has Scenic connections....

I ended up adding a simple pull wire on the moving shaft. It rarely needs to be moved except to access the diagnostic socket. So I took the easy way out.
