My 1975 R17 has a broken bush on the left hand steering arm. The rubber has perished and needs replacing. The steering arms are generally common between R12/R15 and R17 but I notice in my parts book the R1312 variant ( which I have) and R1322 have a different part number (see picture). The common arm is 7700571172 but the R1312 is 0832115700.
Can anyone tell me whether the two steering arms are interchangeable as it appears 7700571172 will be easier to find than the other.
Or can you just replace the rubber bush?
Thanks

The way I read it is r1312 and r1322 both use the same arm.the 0832115700 is the original part no,which is superseded to 7700571172.the rubber bush you say is worn,is that the tie rod rubber boot or tie rod ball joint worn?.if the tie rod end dust boot split they were available as a separate item.iirc…jim

Thanks for your replies. The rubber that is perished and broken is on the underside of the bolt /ball joint shown on the pic of the steering arm.

Generally speaking the generic balljoint boots you can find around are not good quality rubber and perish rather quickly. You can buy the entire arm for little money on that auction site. Arms are all the same but remember they are handed.
