RE:COLD AIR INDUCTION

Another way to reduce air input temp is to wrap the exhaust manifold with some heat insulating tape, for my car I feel it had a noticeable and positive effect. The under bonnet temp had a major drop, good for battery and rubber components, engine felt more responsive. I managed to do it in situ with wire over wrap buts thats with the four pot engine you would need to do both sides. :spanner:

If the air intake holes are "bad" - why were they put there?

I've often wondered about the R16TL air filter arrangement - with the row of holes along the air intake.

I'm assuming it's something to do with extreme cold environments...

I was reading somewhere (don't ask me where!) that those holes on the TL saucepan airfilter were made to fix up some odd air intake noise reasonance.
