I finally got under the bonnet of the R10 with a screwdriver the other day. I turned the idle down after someone suggested it was high. I turned it down a fair bit and it still doesn't feel like its about to stall, but the green generator light is about 75% on, is that correct? Should be a bit more economical now but I don't want to run my battery down.

Plus my speedo is making the most excruciating squealching scratching noise. I assume its just f#$ked. Speedo cable is attached properly and most of the time it works.

Zac, this is quite normal for generators (as opposed to alternators). For the small amount of time you sit at idle, there shouldn't be a problem.

Cheers
