Post your 504 here!

Hi ThanosK, thanks for reply! Seems like quite practical modifications to do. Few questions:
- If I use warm cam, Do I need to uprate the valve springs? What's available options I can use?
- Is weber DGAS has compatible base with standard intake manifold (i.e. can plug and play)?
Thanks again!

It depends on how warm you go. The profile below gave a pretty good bump, around 8 bhp. For that, you can use the stock springs. If you go warmer, you should use springs from a Peugeot 405 Mi16 shimmed to 38mm. In reality, you are limited on how warm a cam you can use by the XN1 head which does not flow very well. Using an XN2 head with four ports opens up many possibilities, but I would question the need to do that for a daily driver.

A number of AFers have used a Weber 34 ADM with great results, here is a link: https://www.aussiefrogs.com/forum/index.php?threads/and-yet-another-improvement.28313/

This is my 504
It’s a one owner 1973 TI in the rare colour red (claret) well I have only seen 2 504s in the flesh in the red and one that is for sale at the moment on the net.
Unfortunately it had a fire under the bonnet caused by a pin hole in the fuel line, it was stored for about 15 years.
I brought it in 2017 from a deceased estate.
I had a lot of the injection parts that It needed and got it going again it sounds sweet, it has been put back into storage for now.

My 88 504 Pick Up. My daily runner but dont use slide on camper now....was a great unit and the 504 handled it no problems. The Stag camper, NZ made all fibre glass was designed for Holden & Ford utes which had to have heavier springs and some had air shocks. 504 just took it in its stride & was a lot of fun at the time.

Hi, just found this thread. Here is my 1977 504 TI / GL. I bought it about a year ago. I found the diary of the original owner (school teacher from Queensland) in the box of bits that came with the car. He meticulously serviced it and maintained it until around 2001 and 400+k on odometer. I understand it was originally a GL. 2nd Owner rebuilt engine with TI head and fuel inject from his rusty car and put in his instrument cluster with 600k+ odo with the rev counter. I have the original instrument cluster with the 400k odo. He also put in a 505 5 speed gearbox at the time. He fell ill and passed away shortly after this work was done and the car went to his son who drove it occasionally but it was mostly parked up in his garage for around 10 years until I bought it last year (2020). It drives really well and I love it. Since this photo was taken I have put 505 GTI wagon wheels on it and it's going shortly to have the bonnet repainted as the paint is cracked and crazed in places. I'll post another photo once I get it back from that. This car is kept in Montrose Melbourne.

Nice suite of 504's! is the V8 504 still on the road? What gearbox and diff is behind it? assuming an open tail shaft?

Often contemplated a little extra power in my 504.....

Yeah still on the road, is reg & engineered as a v8. has a bellhousing to suit ba7/4 gearbox and still runs torque tube and peugeot 10 bolt diff, type in 504v8 burnout on YouTube and turn it up ;p well do have a blow threw turbo setup for a 504/505 xn1 if you want more power. :D

I’m late to this thread, I was trying to find some pics of my 504 wagon but some might be lost in a failed hard-drive.
This is only a poor quality pic of a print photo. Sorry about the reflections, I'll try to post some better ones later. It was in such top condition when I got it and gave me many kilometres of driving pleasure.

Reflections or not, it's a great looking car. I've many happy memories of the 504s I've owned but, alas, I never took photos of them.
