Peugot 405 Key Barrel removal

Can anyone advise how this removal can be achieved
The small release whole by Key base has something jammed in it
With the help of an Ear Camera pluged into my cellphone, a metal part at the back of the barrel can be seen standing up
which I think may be restricting the Key from going directly home to turn
Any suggestions that may help

I had some vandals break into my 306 (wrecking both front door locks - work that out?) and they wrecked the ignition barrel and jammed something in there real good. In the end, drilled it out. Maybe there's a better way, but worse case, that works.
