PSA Ma/5 maual gearbox
Hey there I am new to the forum, I was hoping to get some help, I drive a 1999 pug 206 with the 1.6 8v tu5jp motor which came with the ma5 gearbox I am trying to get help to find a 5th gear set for my box the ratio for the gears I am looking for is 43/33. I am not concerned about the price of getting this changed I just know this ratio came in many different cars in the psa group and other partnerships with nissan etc.

The reason for this is that I wish to improve my motorway fuel economy as at the moment it is running at about 3500 or higher at 110kph which isnt great for my fuel economy I know this will decrese my acceleration in 5th gear but not a worry to me. If you need to clarify anything else please ask, p.s the gearboxes that came on the gti and diesel version are the be series of gearbox so not what I am after as I beleive they are different. If you give me your vin I can chase it up didn’t know any of the first silver tops where still around

Just quick look need to confirm what ma you have

I guestimate this ratio swap will have a payback period of about 70,000km.

If the box was out for rebuild I think this swap would be worthwhile.

I have fitted a .767 5th in my 205 and wish it were higher. :wink2:
 
Thank you very much for commenting the help is much appreciated I can get my vin for you and as my gearbox is still on my car I haven't identified the code on the box itself.
 
And yeah I know not many of them left they are hard to find parts for like this gear set etc but I love it I figured it may be worth something one day and wanted to make it just that little bit better
