peugeot 505 tailgate gas struts

hi
I am just after advice how to remove the struts of the tail gate struts of my Peugeot 505 wagon
as the gate does not hold up sometimes .broom stick is not option
are they just a hard pull or there is other way to do it.

Depends on whether they are original or not.
Some struts have a metal strip around the ball socket, you pry this up (opposite side to the ball) to release the socket off the ball.
Some have a plastic clip that goes through the head of the socket and holds it on to the ball, again a screw driver to pry up to release the ball from the socket.
Some have a metal pin that goes through the socket near the shaft and then clips over the shaft, unclip off shaft and then pull out to remove.
