Love your response. And thank you for the master mechs out there.

This is the reply to my question on why this crowd wanted $3,000 plus labour (no parts) alone.
It is such a shame there are thugs out there.

"Thank you for your email. I have checked with my workshop manager who prepared your quote.
To replace the Timing chain on the vehicle is an 8.5 hour job and specialist tools are required to complete the replacement. - $1290.30
To replace the clutch and flywheel, the gearbox needs to be removed and reinstated. This is a 13 hour job to do and will require refilling with gearbox oil after. $1973.40"

Servicebox is 5.3 hrs for timing chain and 7hrs for clutch kit.

I checked using my old cars vin 2010 308 1.6thp manual.

Yes as a workshop you need to make some money but 13 hours is for auto box not manual.
It will take a good technician 2 hours to do 3 tops.
There is a few common sense parts that goes with parts quote like gearbox oil and side shaft seals.
