Peugeot 307 Smells like burning plastic

2L petrol 2003, at first I thought it was coming from another source in the outside air but definitely my car.

Might be catalytic converter related as my exhaust sounds louder than normal and not getting as good fuel economy. Need to find someone in Melbourne to take a look but they charge a lot just for a glance.

Melting plastic smell that is. Coolant level is fine, oil level is fine, replaced the oil about 2 weeks ago.

Check under car, probably have hole in exhaust. Blowing hot gas onto something plastic and burning that.
Hence the plastic smell. Get it checked before catches fire under the bonnet
Any exhaust place will check for nothing.

Exhaust place found the culprit, it was the firewall material that had come loose and fallen from the back of the engine bay onto the top of the exhaust
