Hey guys, I have a Citroen Xsara VTR 01, can anyone tell me where I can get reliable performance upgrades from? such as extractors, chips, etc?
Also where can I find bodykits??

Also do any of you have modified Xsara's??

Cheers

How far do you want to go? deal

This is one of the guys off this board. He's been a bit busy with Uni of late but I've no doubt he's your best guide.

Alan S cheers!

for about $5000 you can get 50% power increase and 30% torque increase.

... trading upto a VTS.

..............VTR......................VTS
Power.....83kW @ 5750rpm......124kW @ 6500rpm
Torque....150Nm @ 4000rpm.....196Nm @ 5500rpm
Acceleration 0-100Km/h..10,9 secs...8,7 secs

Yeh but without the trade up, does anyone know how much a set of custom extractors will benifit the car??

Custom "guessed" extractors probably (no promises) gain 10-15%, costing about $1500!.... tried and trued, properly researched, labour hours, dyno hours and materials.... $1500 x many times.
Honestly hot worth it. Spend the money on good tyers and a brake upgrade. Or making the car as a light as possible.
Perhaps a small exhaust for a bit of barp....maybe. cheers - chris

PS, XSARA aka julian owns a VERY modified VTS here on AF.

No no Chris, Julian has a VTR.

Remember, Citroen went the opposite to all the other brands out there, and the "S" (VTS) is the top model and "R" (VTR) is the model below it. Reverse to Nissan anyway!

DOHHHH!!.... i knew that. The VTS are generally 16V models amd VTR are 8V yes?? - chris

ps Dohhh...

In the Xsara both are 16V :)

VTR = 1.6 (same engine as the in 206, 307)
VTS = 2.0

dohhhhh.... im having a shocker. im thinking early SAXO's.... time for bed i think.-chris

Does this mean that any performacne work done on a 206 or 307 can be done on the VTR??

Most likely ... but tekkie's right ... no amount of work is going to be anywhere near the performance hike a $5000 increase is to the VTS - plain and simple figures. (unless you have bottomless pockets).

The price difference between a new VTR and new VTS is more like $9000 ($23990 vs $32990). But it's still worth it :D

Troy,
you are talking about new prices .. right?

Xsara VTR, was talking about his 2001 model.
Redbook quotes

VTR
Private sale, average price as: $15,100 - $17,900

VTS
Private sale, average price as: $20,800 - $24,100

Its between $5000 and $7000 according to Redbook.
With the modifications to bring the car to the level of performane VTS offers 1.6L VTR would have the level of modification Darren is doing to his 205 Pug (MYT205).
This does not cover heavy duty suspension, gearbox, brakes, ABS and EBD.... that VTS has as standard. I havent even begun on comfort options since they arent truly performance items.

cheers

Yes I was quoting new prices. But given those second hand prices, your right, it does make much more sense to get a VTS rather than do up a VTR. One would have to be patient getting a second hand one though, they are bit thin on the ground (at least here in WA).

Xsara VTR

if you must remain with VTR, any modifications done to smal 4 pots will do. Usually a BMC filter will flow better, a little opened up exhaust will likewise flow a tad better. Keep those mods to within sensible limits (pleeeeeease dont put a 5 inch chrome tip on your exhaust).
The most performance you are likely to get would be from upgraded brake pads, best tyres you can afford, and an advanced driver course or two.

Look on UK and EU forums about the particular engine mods. XSARA is not a popular model for upgrades in australia and you may struggle to find particulars of what you need to do.

PS. If you change you filter element and exhaust, and any other bits, keep the original items. You will find it is easier to sell the car at a later stage with OEM bits firmly bolted back in place.

Well I have found a site with the help of Nick Watson from www.pugaction.com they can provide peformance headers and full exhaust sytem for the car so I am looking into that.

I have kept the original box and filter but do not have the original exhaust, not to worry, Im not looking to sell for a while.

I'm looking at modding my 2CV to bring it up to VTS specs....can anyone help?

I heard a cold air induction (these are really cool y'know....cold air for free. Why didn't the manufacturer think of this? Idiots) can give a 5 kw advantage. Woo....I can double my power with this thing. They rock.

Brenno you have probably just alienated yourself from the historic section of the Citroen forum with your comments about the 2CV. lol

Isnt it all about the power to weight? 2cv with some simple body mods, some small mods to the engine to make it rev more free, and you could end up with ...

Speaking of the performance potential of a 2CV.

http://www.2cvracing.co.uk/

They even do a 24 hour race. They probably need 24 hours though wink

There's also the 5.7L V8 2CV modification

Here's a translation:

Citroën V8

Just for the duck!

Citroën 2cv6 have ever provided, but that was certainly no six cylinder. 2cv an eight cylinder exists on the other hand really, already there at citroën themselves of have supposedly never thought them. If you clear however a garage and zomaar V8 an engine encounter, there strange things can happen. At least: if you Marco Klaassen are called.

Marco Klaassen Voorburg had already experience with faster making Citroëns Deux Chevaux. A duck with a four cylinder from the Citroën G is of course nice, because with that some smooth rijders can you annoy quite, like as a matter of fact also ever to see bond-film were in. With about 60 up to 65 pk it stops boxer however at g. Marco, with in the garage found V8 in his down-stream cutwater, wild now know weleens to hoever you in fact can go. Nou, considerably far.. To deusjevoo V8, what to call! 5.7 The litre V8 was geresiveerde Oldsmobile engine of a dikke 250 pk, which had twisted kilometres still but approximately 2000. When that beautiful round number had been reached the car which zat plat was around driven. Now Marco had still 2CV from 1962, of which was from the coachwork in good state. The floor not, but that was not terrible. Now is possible V8 there natural a dikke in Eendenkoets geschoenlepeld never becomes, you would think. But that turns out better than expected, if you try it simply. It was practise with the space, but with necessary creativity was appropriate the engine very nice! The radiator for the vooras indeed sits and puts the engine something in the cabin, but: it succeeded. The automatic three barge, served by ' shifter ', reaches be based on, which thus still a piece further direction achterbumper sits. But who pays attention then nou!

40000 guilders, six girlfriends.

The leuke are, which you would think zomaar that these 2CV with his ribbeltjesmotorkap a restored klassieker is, with peekaatje or sixteen. You do not have pay attention to the breadth of the achterbanden of course and do not have you m. hear run, but further: a wolf in schaapskleren in optimums forma. But are not mistaken yourself you!
The car cost former Marco to plane fitter not only three years work and 40.000 guilders, but girlfriends also still six. You must something have! How original the duck looks forward to there also, in reality is few originals. This way by it a special made onderstel sits, for an important part in each other Eric ordered Bauer that moreover also the one is, from whose garage V8 originating is. The floor exists from steel plate of 2 mm, on which rusts thanks to poeder-coating no barrel has. That onderstel has been dressed with components of the most several marks. The radiator comes up of a ford Granada and is appropriate, in spite of the adaptation with thicker - and onderbak, zowaar under the groove cap! The clean is originating from Opel Commodore, the rear axle comes of a ford and has 85 percents sper. That rear axle had be rather said, however, drastically shortened, or narrower made. , To get the capacity on the way were rather broad achterbanden - hear yes, a duck with to - drijving! - necessary and because of originality (and the effect of surprise) it not the intention was developing the wheel castes. Then but to within ' broaden '. The Goodyear Eagles behind 215/60-15, up to are appropriate to even 40 have the half-measure cm broad rubber under the car. The voorbanden to be ' ietsje ' narrower, namely 145, -15 - nevertheless still 2 cm broader than at normal 2CV. The rear wheels have been made of (broadened) Citroën rims, provide wheels with the heart with Chevrolet. By the chromed original duck eenden-wieldoppen falls that other heart not real. The achtervering did more earlier service on a jaguar, the demping is around in the hands of adjustable koni's. Of course the car does not go, such as the ordinary Deux Chevaux, with concerning the plaveisel drags - the door crutches by the turning. No hear that goes all considerable tightly.

Porsche-kleur

Stoppers go using ventilated Opel-schijven for and massive Volvoschijven. The servo-brake is of Mazda. The hand brake is something particular. From shortage of space Marco chose for a disk brake on the Cardan joint, served by the handremhendel of a mini.

Also the stove comes of a mini. The accumulator vonde a place a special accumulator barge made in the back of, in. The tank is also already its own construction, of rust steel and with tussenschotten. It is sent using Opel - machaniek, both the wheel house and the wheel column are originating from cars of that mark. What does not concern the exterieur, is so much tell there. The windshield has been replaced by a laminated copy. A couple tientjes, told Marco but cost, therefore that the costs are not! The colour gave still just as a problem. The original 2CV yolk that gladly wild, was not retrieve Marco. For this reason Porsche-kleur see that is appropriate as a matter of fact also better at the performances. Moreover this Sahara yolk comes very nice in the buurt of the colour which was ever provided on Deusjevoos, and goes there it for. Fred van Doodewaard from The Hague ensured the perfect needle work.

Eight pip sound installation

Of within originality is zoeken far, here the racelucht smoke you. Voorin you sit in Sparco tubs and you at your place are kept six point full Harness gordels. In the back of sit is not, for the simple reason that there no back seat is. That is not possible also, no spot has been drawn because of the role cage of dikwandige pipe. There worries about a special made dashboard of plane aluminium, with - to see the photograph! - ' ietjes ' instrument vaster than in a standard duck. By the American meters, however, Nascar-racer seem it. Something what on a sound installation seems does not have Marco. Not necessary also, because the actual sound installation sits under the cap. Exactly, and those have eight cylinders! Marco do not drive real much with the duck, but if he appears on the way it is of course frequently laugh. As that time then he stood a caravan considerable with for the stoplicht, beside the a or other one amazingly smoothly looking Gti-tje. The inzitten-den of it incurred frustrations for living then appeared that 2CV + the caravan accelerate considerably more rapidly than their own krachtpatsertje! There the fun was probably once and for all of finished.... That brings us on the performances. Of 0-100 four up to five seconden last. The maximum speed lies what more difficult. Above 180 linnen the roof, as it happens, from own movement and vervolgens the airspace threaten go up at keizen. Harder than approximately 185 Marco have not been for this reason for all security, but according to its calculations slightly the theoretical maximum between 230 and the 240 kilometres per hour. But the largest sensation is it nevertheless on the motorway just as behind 140 a driving predecessor continue hang, to go to these vervolgens loeihard beyond, with thereby the sound of those eight heavy boys in the vooronder. Count but that a this way someone just as couple grips time considerable in its cheek to if check it a boze dream is. The car weighs moreover 1040 kilogrammes, globally twice as much as original. The testing and the APK? No problem, thanks to Perry's Car engineering end courts which ensured that the 2CV V8 uncomplicated all inspecting agencies passed, so that Marco drive out completely legal in the rondte. O yes, does not forget: it improbably sounds, but in 1998, Marco want take farewell of the car. Then ie therefore buy has not been expected, but that you can come along take him for the price of an ordinary Second hand.
