My mechanic has fitted a new oxygen sensor to my 2000 citroen xantia wagon and can't get it started, any ideas, or is a code needed.

I would hope he tried unplugging it to make sure there is no issue there. Depending on the engine the dual relay and impact switch connections can be bumped.

What symptoms caused the oxygen sensor to be replaced?

No code is required for this car so long as the key transponder light goes out soon after the ignition is turned on.

As Dave suggests, try starting it with the new O2 sensor disconnected.

Cheers, Ken

Thank you for the replies, I have brought your responses to my mechanic's attention and as I understand it I believe he has tried these and more to no avail so far.
At the moment he is trying to locate another key from another xantia, I don't quite know what this will do.
If someone has any further suggestions please pass on your knowledge, it would be greatly appreciated, I'm getting desperate.
