direct injectors have oil changes much less frequently than indirect motors. If that is what is recomended then do it just make sure that you use the best oil you can get your hands on. I would suggest Mobil 1 synthetic, that is what I use in the 405 SRBT with changes every 10000. However having said that if you dont use the car a lot you could change every 10000 or 6 mths.

my old man was warned against mobil one or any other synthetic in his 405 srdt
i think he has always used pentrite or penzoil or something like that

Castrol RX-Super is a great diesel oil with good cleaning properties.
Most of my friends with big and small diesel engines run this oil.
Qld Diesel spares sell it for around $20 for 5L

Good Luck

RX Super is a bit long in the tooth now and reportedly has some sludging problems.

Pugrambo Penrite synthetic or dino oil. What was the problem with M1

Haven't heard of sludging problems but it is a great all purpose cleaner.
I run it throught all of my petrol cars once a year for 5000K, breaks
down a lot of glazing and carbon build up. In my experience if you drop the oil
every 10K in the 406 she should keep singing.
