Howdy all; would this bolt straight on to an R12? Certainly looks the same, and the Yanks only got the bigger engines in the R5. Oh, anyone know what the 'archer enhancements' are?

Looks like it could be a goer

I'd say the enhancements are the valve Springs and the spring retainers.

Yeah, I noticed those, but wondered what exactly they signified; an aftermarket tuner's name, perhaps? I think the head has holes for an air pump as well, going to the exhaust ports, to reduce emissions. Could be wrong, but looks like it.

Hi guys, the head should bolt straight on. A better bet though would be to locate a 5 ALpine/5 Gordini (in the UK) head and pushrods etc. O/S. The advantage being that you would then have a crossflow motor on your 12. The heads are said to bolt straight onto the standard 1.4 block.

Mecaparts is flogging complete motors secondhand so my guess is that they could locate a head. Prices aren't too bad and I reckon that the cost of freight on the head would not be too astronomical.

cheers!

Thanks Bog. As I was looking at a recond head anyway, and this one came up, I briefly considered having a bid. There may even be a chance that it had hardened seats.
