Hi Pug Pals,

I recently purchased a 4007 (2011 Diesel). It was going swimmingly the most powerful car I had ever owned! A week or so post purchase, I noticed it would jerk a little. A month passed and the DPF warning started popping up on the dash. Shortly after, on a long drive to Sydney from the Central Coast, the car could not keep up the revs - dropping down gears only impeded speed. A mechanic had a look at it but didn't seem to think it needed replacing but found the adblue bladder was leaking and replaced that instead. The warning light for the DPF stopped popping up but driving back to the Blue Mountains the car lost it's ability to maintain revs when I hit the bottom of the first hill. I struggled all the way up to Katoomba. Momentum helped and changing out of low gears as soon as possible helped too.
Has anyone had this problem before? Had any ideas? Have any recommendations for mechanics in the Blue Mountains (I have booked in with Bohman Automotive).

European auto care in Batt Street Penrith is the place to go. It does sound like a blocked dpf and they can be washed out. Otherwise if the previous owner used a cheap diesel filter that can also cause some fuel starvation problems, but I would get them to check the dpf first.

Take it to a workshop that has the Peugeot software. The Penrith place above would be one (don't be put off by a large yard stuffed full of Citroen spare part relics), as does https://www.colliersauto.com.au at Granville. These are the main specialists in the western suburbs.

It needs the computer history read, as well as a mere list of OBD codes.

My bet is a clogged exhaust filter - does the car do mainly short trips? HDI engines will only regenerate the exhaust system if you have been driving for a while at a steady speed - this needs a motorway or flat country rural road. Otherwise the exhaust filter will clog, proper combustion cannot occur, and you will get a warning. If necessary, the regeneration can be started from the software - it consists of fast revving as if on that freeway drive, with combustion altered to produce great exhaust heat. The exhaust spits out smoke, hot particles and general nastiness, so it is done outdoors. Once done, do a trip every now and again.

AdBlue or particle filter additive??? They are different systems in Pug/Cit. The particle filter can certainly clog with material that will not be burnt off by a regeneration drive and can need replacing as it ages. Another possibility ... This is presumably a 2.2HDi DW12 engine. 4H? in the VIN. Does it have the air valve marked #1 at the front of the engine on the air piping? That unit can fill with oil and/or shed teeth on the plastic sector gear. If you are careful, you can take the cover off and check. It will most likely go by part number 0345F7, but you should confirm that via the VIN before buying one. There are now some gear and sector kits available via eBay, but it may be a fiddly fix.
