Hi all, looking for an old car friendly mobile pink slip mechanic in Sydney - I have a 1970 Peugeot 404

Can anyone recommend someone?

Thanks!!!

Doubt that’ll happen any time soon. On the plus side, if the car is roadworthy, there is nothing stopping you making an appointment at a local mechanics and driving the car there.

i didnt think it was possible in NSW ,was told that a roadworthy inspection was attached to an address . you can do mobile in QLD ,im always conscious of there ability to drive my 69 404 to do the road test ,i draw a shift pattern on a card stuck in the dashboard ,operating the lights is another issue ,my local douse it while i wait ,its due on the 27th so am doing a bit of maintenance today ,no brake lights ,couldnt get the switch out but some wd40 from under the dash worked a treat .pugs

And if it's not roadworthy, you'll need a lot more than just a pink slip 😄.

I think pugwash is right - I've never heard of a mobile inspection service.

I recently did exactly what renault8&10 suggests. The only mechanic who would look at my Xantia with less than 2 weeks waiting time was an old(er) mechanic, who specialises in utes and trucks. He harrumphed when I said it was a Citroen, but gave it a thorough inspection, failed it on the rack boots, declined to do the repairs but didn't charge for the inspection. I was going to take it back to him for the pink slip (he'd done the inspection -only fair that he got the fee) - but his workshop has closed during current lockdown.

It's a recent innovation, the brake testing equipment used by a mobile tester has to also print out the GPS coordinates.

I haven't come across a mobile mechanic who is also the proprietor or employee of a fixed premises inspection station.

No wonder there aren't any about.

He's not mobile, but for a historic, classic or rally car friendly blue or pink slip in Sydney I can highly recommend Ben Ruggles, he also can still provide the paper pink slip instead of the eSlip for the clubs that require a paper copy for historic rego.

Yes, I was surprised. I searched and found the list neural revolt found but was logged in so didn’t post.
As AlexB says, it must be a recent addition.

Hi everyone thankyou so much for all the responses, really great community here.

So I took it to a local guy and he failed it because the blinkers don't work when the lights are on (they work when the lights are not on). Has anyone ever heard of that before?

So now i am looking for a local Sydney east auto electrician that will work on a 1970 Peugeot - I made a few calls and no-one will touch it. Thoughts??

thanks

strange ,cant work out whats going on there ,is he aware that the lights on the side of the front guards are parking lights operated by a switch under the dash on the right side ,near the ignition key .switch left for parking on right side ,to the right for left side of road[ country roads ]thats the way mine works ,maybe someone has messed about with the wiring to have them on with the park lights ,thinking he may believe them to be side indicators ,when he says indicators douse he mean all the indicators or only these lights ,PUGS PS were about in Sydney are you ,

hi
it is a bit strange ,but it is clear that the switches for the lights and blinkers are on the steering area so when you put the head lights on they move the whole thing and it does effect the blinker switch .this is very basic wiring any auto electrician should be able to check.
if you open the bottom part of the steering plastic you be able to see it all.i dont know any electrician in the east but i do remember one when you go up the hill from Tempe train station towards Earlwood there is one on top of the hill. maybe too far .good luck

i think you should move your questions to peugeot forum. or the technical section .you will get much more response
