Mecaparts

Sorry John, saying like it is. It's all in the bin. I have a police friend I consulted who just said bin it. I washed my hands thoroughly, naturally. Lisa just fell over laughing.
Bet she did. It'll remain a mystery I imagine. It doesn't really look like a secret admirer! :)

I had a box of parts posted from France on 17/06/20 so we will see how long they take. But Australia post is so bad these days it takes 2 days for an express post bag to get across Melbourne even though it's an overnight service. They all hide behind the Covid excuse.
3 weeks to get a parcel to WA because of Covid and the lack of flights and yet TNT frieght do it in a few days.

Does this woman have a phone number?

Sorry, nothing to do with mecca parts but.....Picked up the mysterious packages. Geez there are some nutters out there. But the mystery is how does this person know my name and my Super manager?
A used kitchen grinder of some sort and womens undies for who suffer from leakage???????????????? Crack head!

Second parcel from Mecaparts ordered on 25 June arrived today from Auspost - just 9 days later. A huge improvement over the 40 days it took for the last parcel from Mecaparts to arrive. Well done to the postal agents along the way.

Interesting isn't it. I've just had a polite email from Belgium, where he is being told he can't post to Australia because of Covid. They are coming through from France though... It's impossible to work out, in reality, who is being told what!

I've recently had a 9-day delivery from Mecaparts too. A friend in Belgium has found his PO won't accept postage to Oz and a bookshop in Dublin the same, a parcel for me being returned to sender as the Irish PO found Oz wouldn't accept the parcel. I'm a tad puzzled.

I suspect the information is confusing for overseas postal services and also it seems Auspost accepts some kind of parcels but not others.

For instance, DHL details on their german website what you can send (from Germany) to Australia and what not. The info is difficult to find at least from this end though. The Oz site doesn't have any such details.

Exactly. I did find a useful table on the Oz site about mail being posted FROM various sources, but that was last month and I'm blessed if I can find it now.

I've enjoyed the thread about tyres for your Koleos btw. :) Lots of opinions out there....

I can't take credit or responsibility for comments in threads I open, but thank you.

I guess it's more down to the vast experience and expertise of the forum members, which is why I asked the question here in the first place.

My parts that were posted in France on the 16 June still haven't arrived. I got an email from the French PO about 16 July saying it had been returned to sender. My supplier said the parcel was damaged so he had to go through it and make sure nothing was broken and resend it.
Still waiting. It's making the Yass deadline very hard.

Hmm. I wish I could sort out Australia Post's website for parcels posted TO Australia. I had a book coming from Ireland and it was returned to sender, and they were told it was returned by Australia Post. A friend in Belgium was told he could NOT post to Oz about 4 weeks ago. Against that, we've several examples of parcels from France coming in about 7-10 days in the last 3-4 weeks. Anything I might have that I can send you from Perth?

Thanks John but I can't remember what there was. Mainly discs, caliper kits, ball joints, tie rods, waterpump, all hoses and body rubbers. Basically enough to finish it.

I can supply new waterpump and new base, and a pair of new tie rods and inner steering bushes for sure. They seem to breed. I've four S/H but perfectly serviceable ball joints too - as I had the front end apart and their boots were cactus I fitted my new ones just last month.

I've just checked - plenty of calliper kits too.

Thanks John, I've ordered 8 cal kits for Steve and I, at least that will get something moving. The discs I might still be okay considering the car has only done 37,000 miles and they look thick enough.
There isn't any real play in the front end, the steering boots are stuffed like all the rubbers, I might be able to get away with ball joints and tie rods. I just want to do it once if you know what I mean.
The current problem maybe that stage 4 lockdown might mean we have to close so how are they going to deliver?

Hi David,
I just got an email this morning from a specialist VW service place saying (and quoting) that they had advice from the VACC that they fell into an essential service category and could work at their premises providing they met all the Covid safe conditions, only allow contactless drop off / pick up and similar restrictions etc. It's all a bit cloudy (the rules) but make of that what you will, taking into account perhaps the spirit of the restrictions (a bit of a moral dilemma). I am taking on face value what they claim in the email.
regards Leconte
