Australian RCZ’s... Aussie, Aussie, Aussie . . . oi, oi, oi.

Peugeot exported only three versions of the RCZ to Australia. (not counting the RCZ-R, thirty-five only, of which were all sold quickly.)

RCZ GT 150THP Auto
RCZ GT Diesel Auto - which didn't sell. Aussies have always been petrol heads. Diesel sales have dramatically declined.
RCZ GT 200THP Manual - which had revised suspension, short shifter and bigger front brakes - 340 mm.

They all sold for the same price, $55,000 and went to $59,000 when the Mk 2 arrived in 2013.

They were all optioned to the hilt.
JBL Hi-Fi, latest sat-nav, black callipers, auto-levelling directional bi-xenon's, 19" wheels with 235/40/R19 Continentals, parking sensors, hill start assist, tilting down side mirrors when reversing, et. al. electric & heated seats, leather everywhere, even the dash, doors. etc.

The only option was paint colour.

The series 1 diesel only one I ever saw was a pretty good drive. You could option a carbon roof as well.

I don't know about Aussies being petrolheads. Around my place half or more cars are diesels. Unfortunately mostly German brands for the sedans. The SUVs around here are nearly all diesels. Every local servo has one or more small nozzle diesel pumps,

Specifically, for a top notch French Sports Car, the reviewers always questioned the diesel version arrival. But hey in 2010 diesel was about. Peugeot stopped importing RCZ oil burners in 2013. Limited numbers. Low sales. I would never think of it!

The future in Oz is electric.

The RCZ 200THP was a nice drive, not really quick, but it cornered really well. And the 200THP engine sounded a lot nicer in that car than it did in the 208 GTi for some reason.

It had a pipe that brought the induction noise into the cabin. Sounded great, even better with an aftermarket exhaust.

Still better than when they put it in the speakers.
From memory the ss commodore used the same sort of diaphragm

It IS a nice drive. Exceptional handling and braking. Power is sufficient for me because it goes . . .

And the exhaust 'membrane' is a sporty treat. And it still turns heads - constantly.

The RCZ-R did not sell quickly. The canberra dealership had there one for about 2 years before it sold.

Pretty sure there was option packs when the Mk1 was sold.

The Canberra dealership does always have cars sitting there for years though, they've had a 308 GTi on sale for AGES.

Optional on the MK1 was the JBL audio upgrade. Not sure what else.

There are some dealerships that hold (as in Oz stock) sports Pug's, for the wow factor.

And, the RCZ was their trophy sports car at the time. And turned heads as people came into the showroom.

Monaco Pack$2,700.00
Sportif Personalisation Pack 1 $4,000.00

Also available as optional equipment (as part of the “Monaco” pack) is a JBL premium high fidelity sound system comprising:

Elan Pack:

  • 19” “Solstice” Black Onyx wheels;

  • Black painted front grille (gloss).

With the release of the RCZ Mk 2, (2013) all that changed, as most, not all, of the above mentioned kit was included on the Oz exported Mk 2.

It made it easier for Pug Oz not to have to wait on overseas deliverys for particular upgrade options. And as so few were sold it made it simple for Pug Oz, unlike in Europe where most sales occurred.

Then why in the hell did they buy a French Sports car?

Took the RCZ for a spin today, and the membrane sound is not intrusive. More of a pleasant bass grumble. And only on hard acceleration.
