Hi all. Purchased a cheap high km 2006 307 wagon. Diesel 6 speed auto. Goes well. Has a few issues for blueslip in NSW.
light switching is odd. Apparently I have no park/tail lights, and they’re suggesting replacing the switch stalk. Are the parks a seperate globe? Is the stalk a tricky job?

Further to this- I get an ‘ambient light sensor faulty’ warning on the display. Should I start with that re the lights?

Ahh - we had a 2 litre 2006 307, and it had 'dark sensing' headlights. AFAIK, the 'ambient light sensor', like the rain sensor, was in the windscreen. A cheap replacement windscreen would not have these sensors, but that shouldn't stop anything working - you would just have to manually switch the headlights on (& your windscreen wipers).

Non-working tail lights would be a fuse on most cars... Does this car have a towbar? Even if not, it could have been removed & sold separately. It could be worth checking whether the wiring has been butchered by fitting of towbar wiring.

As to the light control stalk - earlier 307s had problems with the COM2000 unit (housed in that stalk) and switch failures (commonly affecting blinkers), but a 2006 model car should have the later unit, which is generally trouble free.

I would recommend getting a code scanning tool - there may be useful information stored. You don't ever travel up to the tablelands do you? I am in Tenterfield from time to time, but rarely venture down your way.

Cheers

Alec

Thanks great reply. Actually the wipers are odd too- if I bump it down onto auto momentarily, they seem to stay on. Rotating clockwise sprays the front but wipes the back-?! So perhaps it points to the windscreen as you say.
Yes it has a towbar, the flat Peugeot type.
I was in the rear left replacing a globe and found a unit with one little fuse which did need replacing. I have come across some suspicious wiring repairs 🙄. Do I need to change ‘modes’ and disable the auto stuff somewhere?
No I don’t get out of the byron shire much but can prob get a scan in Lismore.
Thanks again.

Just to resolve my own post – turned out the park globes were both blown, a $4 fix. Also, the lights were set to come on automatically (and I've gathered that the sensor was originally in the windscreen, probably no longer), so by turning off that function I have lights that now perform normally. It's got rid of the 'ambient light sensor' warning that would appear on starting too.
This was a happy outcome compared to replacing the switch stalk as suggested by the local blue slip guys, or the $1800 computer as suggested by the Peugeot specialists. Phew!

And not one checked the globes wow
