Does anyone know who makes the 5 speed automatic gearbox in the Laguna II that's mated to the V6s?

I heard it was an Aisin Warner unit, but thought that was strange, haven't heard of French cars with Japanese gearboxes - it's definately not a French unit (ie. AL4/DP0), is it ZF?

Cheers,

Justin

If its as tempramental as people are saying, its pobably not japanese - our OpelHolden Astra at work has an Aisen box, and its quite good.

I haven't really read of any ownership reports, but on a Volvo forum they were saying the 5 speeder in the Laguna II is an Aisin unit.

The thing is, I haven't read any ownership reports. Never really heard of a French car having a Japanese auto gearbox.

I drove one to byron bay and back. It was a bit strange but I thought it was pretty good.

It has that auto adaptive fuzzy logic. It goes like a rocket though.
Cruises very well.

After a R19 1.7 auto, a lot of things would probably feel like a rocket :)

Don't worry, I know all about relaxed acceleration - the 307 is very relaxed.

If its a Laguna II KG0D (Estate) or BG0D (Saloon) with the v6 and auto then its an L7X E731 engine mated to an SU1 gearbox. This gearbox is shared with the Avantime, Espace IV and Vel Satis.
