No, I don't think so. The RX4 was earlier with mechanicals by Steyr-Puch maybe, but I could easily be mistaken. I think there were a few 4WD Kangoos - maybe Sinpar?

I would love to see the undersides of both side by side. I think the transmission system from Steyr Puch having already been paid for to be used in the RX4 would not have been wasted by getting someone else to devise a system for the Kangoo 4X4. I suspect you'll find that both cars share a 2619mm wheelbase which means that the transmission to rear diff dimensions are identical and would use the same longitudinal driveshaft.
