Russell and Martin from ABC Classic just mentioned that Ennio composed the music for Sergio Leone movies before Sergio actually made them!

From Wikipedia: Some of the music was written before the film, which was unusual. Leone's films were made like that because he wanted the music to be an important part of it; he kept the scenes longer because he did not want the music to end.

An unforgettable pairing of talents, Leone and Morricone. Not to mention quite a few good actors.

But yes, the music more than makes some of the scenes in the movies.
 
I still remember the first time I heard the theme for the G,B&U on the radio.
