How long is a 505 GTI dipstick?

Hi all,

The engine oil dipstick handle on my 505 1993 GTI wagon broke off years ago. Here's a photo of it:


I'm going to make a new handle and fit it, but I need to know how to correctly calibrate the length. So I need to know the length x (see the diagram) from the tip of the dipstick to the 'hilt' of the handle (where is touches the top of the dipstick tube).


Any chance someone might be able to measure theirs and let me know? Measurements from a couple of cars to confirm the length would be great. Much appreciated.

May I suggest grabbing a Fuego R20 etc dipstick instead?
Same engine.
Happy to be advised that this is the wrong way to do it?
