Alternatively, is there a reasonable, reliable wrecker who could send one to Kyogle post haste ? Thanks
Thank youmy son had a c4 Picasso[ same engine] , that came from out of Bellingen ,that had had the sump welded up ,im told, twice from the same rock , so yes its possible ,that car had had a rough life .
I did ask for wrecker suggestions but time is a real issue - it is my daughter's car and she is out in the sticks from Kyogle - has a good, honest local mechanic at Kyogle but needs it to get to work in Lismore. If you know where I could get one delivered to him in a hurry I would appreciate the info. CheersWHy not just change the sump. There has to be thousands of 2.0HDI's scattered across wrecking yards. Possibly you will need the 307 specific sump to make sure it fits the engine bay though).
This would be what I would do as temporary fix while you are finding a replacement. Could most likely plug the hole with out removing the sump. Just give it a good clean on the out side and clean as much oil as you can on the inside with some thinners on a rag, pooking your finger in the hole.Since your daughter needs to use it, can you plug it up in the meantime, until you get a new one ? There are two part epoxies that are very good....as long as you apply them on a clean, dry, oil-free surface.
Sadly I'm not up for car work anymore - back / arthritis etc so it's going to the mechanic. Thanks.Since your daughter needs to use it, can you plug it up in the meantime, until you get a new one ? Thanks Col, but as per my reply to Beano, I'm not up for it anymore. This would be what I would do as temporary fix while you are finding a replacement. The repair may even last the rest of the life of the car if you choose the correct epoxy metal.
Weld it up then. It's not hard.unfortunately no one is going to take a sump of a runner and if it isnt a runner its going straight into the scrap skip .
Easier than you think - the mechanic's going to do it lolWeld it up then. It's not hard.
Not so sure about that... If you can catch a non-runner engine BEFORE it has been removed from the car...unfortunately no one is going to take a sump off a runner and if it isn't a runner its going straight into the scrap skip .
