Help with 306 radio

Just need some help with the stock radio on the 306.

Recently got a 97' 306 XT and just wandering how i can get the security code for the radio/casseste. Does it have anything to do with the VIN?

Normally if it is a factory/dealer fitted radio they will be able to get the security code that is matched to your VIN. Normally, they should not charge you for it, if they do no more than few bucks, it takes them 10 mins to get the code.
As an alternative you can go directly to the radio manufacturer and ask for the code. That may cost you though.
