A friend is trying to work out the fittings for a rear louvre that he got for his white car. I haven't seen this louvre before, so can't advise. He says it appears to be painted fibreglass, and he's wondering how secure it will be with 2 top brackets and two at bottom corners slid under the screen rubber. I have seen the factory Accessoire one (green car), and have what may be a South African version (yellow car). Does anyone recognise this version / know how to secure it?

Bruce, mine has three mounting tags at the top and two at the bottom which slip under the screen rubber, and a third lug at bottom middle which clips into place on the glass itself (see pic).

I would think only having mounts at each corner the sunblind would flap around in the wind quite a bit.

So this one looks like the it could be similar to the louvre on the green car, which had the bracket in the middle. Does yours have the Citroen Accessory badge on it?

Bruce, there doesn't appear to be any manufacturers markings stamped anywhere on the sunblind. My guess is these were a generic accessory made for a range of so called "sporty" 1970's cars of the day, eg., Datsun 1200 coupes etc, which I seem to recall all had them.

That middle bracket looks just like the ones that came with the Aunger brand louvers.

Hi Bruce,

I had one on the GSpecial I bought in 1975 and I most probably bought it from Maxims. It seemed to have metal fingers that went under the window rubber. I would get quite worried when I had to park the car with the wind direction coming from the back of the car. I remember having to add some U rubber bits to the front of each blade so it wouldn't rattle on the glass. They made it quite difficult to clean the outside of the back window.

Perhaps with the quality of flexible glues we can buy these days (like Sikaflex), they could be more securely attached using it under around and over the metal tongues.

Cheers, Ken
