Still not getting anything, so I’ve tried sending you one.

working to install a better sound system that can be sympathetic with the vintage, yet sound good with BT connectivity amp speakers etc stealth mounted.

my brother is experimenting with solution and is very keen to get this sorted with what he has. a lot of self fabrication in the garage is going on like so many other in this forum, resurrecting past Citroens and other classic french cars.

the thinking was that it could have been an acceptable back in the day as an | accessoirie| may be ?

during this process i remember after purchasing the GS i realised that i would need to find parts. lots !

the internet was really the only option. i scoured all the countries on ebay. some parts were easier to come by than other also the prices then were reasonable, when considering parts bought here for current model cars in australia. also in some cases locally held stock of parts were generously traded by other GS enthusiasts.

however there was no real way to know exactly if they were going to fit being a RH drive car. translation into english etc. this is an example of what had to be modified. the chrome stalk had to be slightly heated and bent into shape and mounting brackets swapped to the NOS. good result i believe.

BTW can anyone let me know how to keep the title of this thread in CAPS !

So where are the speakers for the sound system going to be placed?

So where are the speakers for the sound system going to be placed?

Cheers, Ken

thanks for the question Ken.

we have looked at the front splits with the mid range in the side kicks, and possibly the tweeters in the B pillar housed above the seat belt anchor. this will have to be tested otherwise for sound separation, plan B is to locate them in the usual just above the top of the dashboard extremities. again in a suitable housing. the rear will be in the parcel shelf and a sub in the boot.

the amps and cross overs will be fixed under the rear parcel shelf or if the weight is too great then a panel integrated behind the rear seat. this is the plan !! we are also trying to integrate with period style of the car.

moving to the s/s exhaust system from the |Y| section through to the muffler and tail.

Hi Lamoor Re the insurance . When I did a full ground up on my Jensen Healey at way more cost than the car is worth, Shannons insured me for the cost of the project. I had to give them quite a lot photos of photos of the quality of the finish (yours is fabulous, by the way) and they accepted the car on that value. Worth a look.
Cheers Ian

Same here with verbal reporting of the cost of a good quality repaint on the Renault 4CV. I've a very high opinion of Shannons.

They accepted a high valuation on mine(404) once photos provided, after a little persuasion ( “404’s are not worth much “ )

The other thing about Shannon’s is that despite being part of a group with a pretty bad reputation in the general car market, both I and my preferred repairer have found them VERY reasonable and good to deal with when a claim is made - have not experienced any of the usual bargaining/ beating down tactics. My repairer sez that they are by far the best for him to deal with too

You never really know how good your insurer is until you make a claim and they have so far passed this test with flying colours ( this with a couple of decent sized claims on the Zed )

They are not cheap for general car insurance, but for oldies they are really very good
