>Comments/Questions: We are Australians returning to Melbourne after living in London. We currenlty own a 1997 Renault Espace (7 seater) and are thinking of bringing it back with us. Is there a Renault dealer in Melbourne who can service this car at reasonable cost? Thanks

Hi, and welcome home!!!
now, on to your querey. Renault is returning to Australia in force early next year, and there will be dedicated renault showrooms and workshops. In the meantime, may I suggest David Cavenagh at French Connection in King St, Airport West.
PS, are you intending to join the Renault Car Club when you arrive? If you are, I can have a magazine sent out to you (where ever you are!) along with a membership form.
Keep Well =)

Hello Mark,

It may be worthwhile checking with Nissan Australia whether Renault will support a privately imported car with parts. Many main distributors tend to frown on private imports. However some can be quite helpful and try obtain what you like.

Renault specialists in addition to French Connection that may be helpful are Alpine Affaire, 4 Thanet Ct Ringwood 3134 ph (03)9879 1961, they have imported a number of Alpines and may have OS contacts for parts and service info.

Also Auto Paris, 4 Rowern Ct Box Hill North ph (03) 9890 8822. An enthusiastic Renaultphile always willing to help.

Other things to consider are that some insurance companies will not comprehensively insure cars not originally sold in AUS. But judging by the number of Japanese imports around there must be an equal number that do, so it may be worth making some enquiries.

Also check this site http://www.dotrs.gov.au/land/vehicle/imports/imp-cert.htm

There may be some rules and documentation worth considering when importing a car to AUS. However someone has done it before, as there is a maroon 1995 Espace cruising somewhere around the Adelaide streets.

Thanks you guys for the quality of your posts!
Very informative!

I will pass this info onto Mark
