Surprised that petrol powered beat Diesel - perhaps todays Brent crude price helps the process.

The virus is affecting France again quite badly with reports of 17,000 new cases on October 3 but no mention of car plant closures or reduced production. The Paris International Agricultural Show scheduled for early next year has been cancelled.
Despite plant closures and reduced production of 30% Peugeot recorded a profit of 595 million euro for the first six months of the year. The merger with the FIAT group is proceeding.

Is diesel not 'on the nose' in a lot of European cities these days, as it should be?

Individual EU states had purchase subsidies for full electrics and scrappage subsidies for older cars that included diesels. The figures would indicate the diesel is still popular in France but no longer the main choice.

Renault has 2 billion euro in cost cutting announced. An eight year plan to turn the company around is due for release January.

October update. The French market has fallen 9.5% and analysts are predicting a tough finish to the year.
Renault sales are down 9.46%, largely from a fall in Dacia sales of over 23%.
PSA is down 2.78% with Opel and Peugeot performing solidly but Citroen down.
Foreign makes fared worse with Toyota down over 30%.
Best selling models in order are Peugeot 208, Renault Clio and Peugeot 2008.
Sales of electric /hybrids are nearly one in five.
