In contrast to Europe the Turkish car market has been booming with September sales up 115%. The make doing very well is Citroen with sales up 224% and jumping six spots in the top ten. The last thing any car importer wants is to be caught in the cross fire of a political spat (Renault Australia 1973) so Citroen Turkey will be ducking their heads with the current dispute between France and Turkey. With a very personal clash between Macron and Erdogan. So when Erdogan calls on people to never buy French products, will it impact Citroen sales? Apparently there is talk in other Middle Eastern countries about boycotting French products. The French importers will be hoping it goes away but it could get worse.
Footnote. Things are getting worse. PSA has already lost the lucrative Iranian market in 2018-19 because of sanctions. But the French companies will cope with loss of sales in a number of these minor markets as they have in the past.
