you should have a few choices in 16" sizes, TSW will definitely have a few styles to choose from as will ROH.
but there isn't much else, there will be those that will try to sell you wheels but i doubt the offset will be correct, i've had somebody try selling me 19's

the wheels are out there, just need to look, OZ will have a few (not cheap) RS-R i think they're called and those cheap asian made ones that Bob Jane and other tyre *specialists* sell.

i honestly dont know, my 405 needed arch work (mine's low though) and i've read the 205 will also.
mainly the rear plastic arch needs to be trimmed on the inside and possibly the corner of the rear bumper where it meets the arch will get in the way, some move the bumper back a bit others take a bit of it off, just the edges, as is the case with my 405.

Chipper sounds like you are onto a fairly large undertaking !
If the bottom end is sound, leave it !
Start with the head, larger valves say up to 44.5mm on the inlet and 38mm on exhaust. Spend some time porting and tidying up around the valve stems and have the inlet manifold port matched.
Increase comp ratio to 10.5 to 1 with a head shave (should be ok with your gas over there.)
I have just had a cam ground for a friend with a 205 cost NZ$90.00 (grind only).Let me know if you want the profiles.
Have the fly wheel balanced and lightened, this dramatically improves throttle response, sacrificing some torque though.

Work with an engine builder who is fanatical (the V8 guys are normally pretty nuts) and only use someone who is known to do good work.

Let me know how you are getting on.

Ps, get on Peter T's back about the head he has "under construction"

chipper, that battery has been in car for over 3 yrs. theyre good but expensive. fitting the 16" wheels did not need arch mods on the 205[17's do] be very careful with the offsets..all the wheel places brochures give different offsets for 205's.most just dont know pugs!! i know of no wheel in oz to fit 15mm offset especially with 4/108. some audi come close. i imported mine from s/africa. a 3 month wait

Thanks guys,

James,

The cam grind you speak of, is this still compatable with the standard ECU?

I would consider this if I can retain the standard computer, as Peter T has suggested he is working on.

Im still paying the car off, and all seems to be ok with the engine currently, so this is more a fact finding mission ATM.

Thanks for the rest of your info, taken on board

jr, thanks a million for the info you faxed me yesterday, I only got the air flow mod at first as the fax machine was having a hissy fit. I got all the TB mod info later, nice surprise !!

This will be an excellent point for me to start.

Cheers all

Yes standard ecu fine. But you know... the more critically you can adjust the engine management the better it will run. I believe the standard ecu can be piggy backed.
I wonder if APEXi might have something for you ?

all my concentration at the moment is going into finding a suitable supercharger for the 16v motor, there are so many types on the market lots of homework is req. yes the car does go like stink..surprises a few!! jr

jr,
Was just showing this above posting of yours regarding looking for a suitable super charger to one of my sons, & he suggests going to a wrecker with Jap import motors & look for a supercharger off a 2 litre Toyota import motor. Should set you back $400.
Tells me that one of these would be ideal. This guy is the tuner for a couple of racing sports sedans so is in the know with this kind of stuff & grew up around French cars. I drive a BX 16v & he drives a CX 2.5Gti with MoTech engine management which he fitted to the car himself. He's very precise with what he does & well known in motor racing circles in SE Qld.
Hope this is some help. If you want any more info - just holler.

thanx alan s, your comments may come in handy...i didnt even think about jap imports.. silly me ...i have about 5 of them in the same suburb. just one thing though..i am not to ofay with riceburners so which toyota 2 litre had a s/charger. i am only aware of the early mr2 [1.6 litre] cheers jr

Apparently anything with a 4AGZE engine in it. If you talk to Jap Spares or similar kind of wrecker/supplier, they should know what you're talking about. He droppped into Sydney on his way back from Summernats & reckons they're as common as the proverbials.

The 1ggze 2.0 litre straight six from a Toyota should be about the right size for a 1.9 engine, the 4agze is a 1600 cc, so *may* be a little small.

Any Toyota engine with the "Z" in its description will have a supercharger.

These whole engines used to go for about $200 a few years back, but may be thinner on the ground now.

Are there any lancia volumex super charged engines around ?
Attaching one of these superchargers may take allot less fussing about ?

jr I've used the Toyota blower on my Renault 16TS powered R10. there are 2 types available in Aust.
Although not imported by Toyota they come in as half cuts as spare engines, the 4AGZE eng is from the MR2 the other s/charger is from the Soarer model. The MR2 being a 1.6L eng the Soarer a 2L the blowers are the same physical shape however the porting is larger on the 2L model, i'm not using a blow off valve & i'm getting 10lb boost at 5000 rpm using a Holley 350 carby with the standard Ford 308 v8 jets.
As this car is for track use only i haven't lowered the compression, it's currently 10.5 : 1 & as a result i use avgas fuel $1.55 p/l for road use you'd be better off using a copper shim with the head gasket to lower the comp to a more realistic level.
I purchased mine from Toyospares Bayswater Vic. for $375 the crank pulley was a further $40 Any further info needed please ask
