Hi gurus,

I have religiously been changing my engine oil using Total Ineo Quartz 0w-30 but with living 450km's from the supplier presents a problem obtaining it an affordable price. Does anyone have any recommendations for similar or better oil I can put in my car that may be more readily available from high street auto shops?
Thanks in advance.

Can you get it by the carton of 3 (ie 15L) from Golden West in Perth, sent by courier?

Penrite has a low ash C2 grade in Enviro+ DL-1 in 5W-30, and also a C2 Enviro+ 0W-30 with higher ash. These should be more widely available. Both are full synthetic and I have used them in the 1.6 THP engine.

Try this C2 from FUCHS...

That's a 5W-30, which says it conforms to PSA spec B71 2290, the low SAPS spec for diesels. I have never been able to find the ash figures for it, unlike Total and Penrite. Shell Helix Ultra-Professional has a similar spec. These days I am informed PSA wants 0W-30 used in the EP6 THP engine family.

Then it's Total Quartz Ineo 0w-30, get it in bulk cartons from Golden West; or one of the the 5w-30 low ash oils mentioned above found in 5L bottles locally.

Penrite's data:
Enviro+ DL-1

Density at 15°C, kg/L 0.851
Viscosity, Kinematic, cSt at 40°C 53
Viscosity, Kinematic, cSt at 100°C 9.5
Viscosity Index 163
HT/HS Viscosity at 150°C 2.96
Cold Cranking Viscosity, cP -30°C 4130
Zinc, Mass % 0.080
Phosphorus, Mass % 0.073
Sulphated Ash, mass % 0.59

Enviro+ C2

Density at 15°C, kg/L 0.840
Viscosity, Kinematic, cSt at 40°C 55
Viscosity, Kinematic, cSt at 100°C 10.1
Viscosity Index 172
Cold Cranking Viscosity, cP at -35°C 5315
HT/HS Viscosity at 150°C 2.9
Zinc, Mass % 0.089
Phosphorus, Mass % 0.080
Sulphated Ash, mass % 0.8
Base Numb

An increase in sulphated ash mass % in a lower density material. Both seem to do the job.
