Warning message came up on console “electrical fault get vehicle repaired” when starting car (started first go).

Whilst engine running at traffic lights checked on console for faults “battery not charging do not drive vehicle” (or words to that effect).

A couple of hours later when leaving destination car started first go with no fault coming up and no faults listed.

Is this something I need to have looked at straight away or left until next time fault comes up and stays on?

Your advice would be much appreciated.

Is your engine fuse box open or has the cover over. I would assume moisture got into your BSM. Not sure if alternator or battery has any type of sensor to identify this type of error on the screen?

Sound like your car will run until the battery goes flat, but if your battery isn't charging not even a jump start will help you then.

Can you drive into a Battery World or similar place and have then put a multimeter over the battery and see if any charge is getting to it ?

Cheers

Justin

Assuming the battery passes tests, that message can be due to a failing high current relay buried inside the supply and protection unit, an item that is bristling with fusible links and lives near the battery. That can run a good battery flat in a few days where the electronic systems don't go to sleep and continue to draw power. There are a couple of specific supply relay fault codes that can point to this unit. The 'relay' is bonded in and nothing like a typical 5-pin automotive relay.

Thanks all for your advice.

Had battery and alternator checked and tested ok.

Looks like a recent 1000km drive in a day fixed the problem - obviously too much city driving!
