Just wondering if some one might be able to help . Ineed to change rear pads and rotors on my Peugeot 508 and every time I go to get out of the car the electric hand brake comes on. Does and one know how to disable the electric hand brake so I can change the rear pads and rotors?

Ok so you need to turn the ignition on but not start the motor ie foot not on brake you then manually release handbrake then turn the ignition off make sure you don’t leave the cables off when finished that can be expensive

The 508 & older generation 3008/5008 are very friendly when it comes to leaving them in N or releasing the handbrake.
You should try the new 3008/5008 ...

Just takes a bit of common sense not that common

There will be instructions in the user manual to go through a menu in the dash to disable the auto park brake. I've done this job a couple of times on my C5 X7 - however the menus will be different so I cannot provide you with details for your car.

You don’t need to disable it and for God’s sake don’t pull the manual release

Whilst I agree with you, it is a level of "foolproofness" that you can activate just in case.

Advice from other forums re C5 and C6 suggest that it is good practice for the home mechanic as some others have thought they had it right - but screwed up.

Yeah you say home mechanic but I’ve had a heap of these and 508s towed in from other shops with cables eaten up by the mechanism I was an expensive cheap brake job for those guys

It's had me worried while doing the C5. I would now disable it as well.
