I found this on bigpond.broadband.users and Aus.Cars
I've recommended he sign up here, but i'll copy and past his post:

"I have a Peugeot 206. owned it for 2.5 years done 40,000km's

Today I was sitting at the traffic lights when the car suddenly shuddered
badly, felt like it stalled, but it didn't conk out completely. Anyway then
it seems to be idling a bit rough. The lights go green...I take off and the
car has almost no pwer and it's making funny noises and spluttering a tiny
bit. It feels like it's running on 1 or 2 less pistons and it smells really
badly of rotten egg gas. I pull over straight away. Call the raodside
service and they say drive it to the nearst dealer which was 5 mins away.

Trip took a while cause it was like it was a Peugeot 206 with a motorbike
engine in it. Left it there tonight, will know whats wrong sometime
tomorrow.

I fear the worse...my engine is stuffed and I have blown up one of the
cylinders. The car's warranty was for 2 years (it has passed now). I love my
car, I depend on my car.
anybody know what could be wrong with my car?"

so what do you think?

poor guy (and everyone on bigpond.broadband.users is giving him s**t about owning a French car... )

Sounds like a failure in some unit has caused the car to switch to limp home mode, maybe the O2 sensor has suddenly failed...hope he does visit us, keep up the pressure, Nick.

I hate people that put shit on drivers when this kind of thing happens.
It is a very scary situation to be in. It happened to me in my REnault and I didnt think I was going to get across the Harbour Bridge or not it is a very real scary situation....Hope you Peugeot people give him a hand..... blush

Don't think it would be the O2 sensor. Mine was not working and only caused intermittent stalling when cool (not cold). My fuel economy is slightly better too.

From what I've heard, Peugeot/Sime Darby is pretty good with these types of things. They'll give some leeway if you past your warranty period.

Obviously, they'll look at other factors, such as if you serviced your car on time, etc.

Cheers,

Justin
