hello all,

Good news! I found out the problem with the air con. Condenser is leaking. Any clues as to where i could get a replacement, apart from the dealer $770.? Citroen C5 X7 2009 model.

thanks and best regards,

A wreckers? There s few X7's on gumtree for parts. Get a secondhand one flushed & pressure tested before use. Otherwise visit a radiator or ac specialist. They might have a generic condenser available that could fit.

Look up Dr Google or ebay using the Citroen part number and see what comes up.

Cheers, Ken

It's only a condenser. Your local A/C place should be able to sort out something that'll fit from there catalogues.

Shane L.

Remembering that the condensor has the drier attached to the side.

I had the condensor replaced on mine a few years ago (2012?) as it had developed the dreaded four pin holes. Cost then roughly $1,000 fitted and gassed. So far so good...

Hi Guys,

Shane is right, but if not locally, they should be readily available from the UK and fairly cheap, so, even if the freight gets a bit expensive, your better off than a factory unit.

I can do better than the dealer, but not much ($100.00. The factory unit does come with the receiver drier, but you can get them on ebay very cheap.

So go aftermarket!

If you give me that last 8 numbers of your Vin, I can give you the correct part no so that will help you find the correct condenser.

Best regards,

Greg

Have you considered finding the leak and having an aircon tech seal with aluminium solder?

Pin prick holes in condensers can be symptomatic of "wet systems", ie a level of moisture inside the system that overwhelmed the dryer.
And the refrigerant has turned acidic.

I would replace the dryer and compressor oil and put the system on a vacuum pump for 3/4 of day minimum. This should "boil off" any
residual moisture.

Aluminium solder repairs to condensers and evaporators are a reliable fix for leaks.

It just depends if the site of the leak is able to be readily accessed and the skill of person solderinging.

Sorry - rather than starting a new thread, but with regard to a 2013 Picasso;
had steadily less A/C for some time but after not using the car for nearly a month lately, absolutely none.
as can be imagined this, here (FNQ), is impossible - so a quote was sought and testing done.
I am assured only the condenser - not the rest of it - needs replacement, which should cost around $900, all up.
Thanks to Armidillo I have use of Service Box again, so, feeling the labour component conspicuously absent
- itemised is basically just testing, testing and re-testing - I referred to the factory allocation for the job.

"... OPERATION

RECHARGE : REFRIGERANT (IN SITU)

Now my question is - does 1.70 mean hours or minutes?

Take a look at what has to be dismantled to get it out, and guess.
