Cost of repairs

A friend of mine's new 307 has an accident a few weeks ago, his car was parked and some idiot in a parjero reversed straight into his bonnet, the spare wheel pushed the bonnet down. we actually saw the whole thing and got the insurance to sort it out, the impact was real slow, <5 kph. the bonnet is pushed down, front bumper area slightly damaged and a small cracked on the plastic radiator support, thats about it. he just got a price quote of.. wait for it.. $7000 from this Ronny Goodman garage, recommanded by A&J Parramatta. Appearanely he fixes Porsches and is the best in the business... but 7000 bucks? :confused:
well my friend doesnt care, it's insurance money anyway...

7000 bucks! :eek: Do you have any idea about what's being fixed and what's been replaced? The bonnets on the 307 are aluminium aren't they, I wonder how easy they are to fix. I have heard that some specialist know how is required to repair aluminium body panels. Still $7000, you would want the insurance to take care of the cost that's for sure.

I figure the bonnet would be replaced.. but it's aluminium not carbon fibre or titanium for god sake...
 
well i'll add that to my list of dislikes for the 307
$7k is a lot of money for a few parts and some labour and paint
i think the front guards on the 307's are flexible as well
i know of a bloke in town that bought a 307 from dubbo and then proceeded to damage some local wildlife with it (read: hit a roo)
he hopped out of the car thinking the worst only to watch the front guard pop back into shape and leave behind the slightest of marks where the roo had hit it
he couldn't believe it

Yeah, it is difficult to see where the all cost is going. Has your friend got any quotes from other panel beaters for a comparison?

my 206 was sandwiched a few months ago, some idiot in a hyundai 4wd pushed me into a ute :mad: .. although it's low speed you can imagine the damage done to my little car.
bonnet, front and back bumper replaced + other minor stuff and the bill is $9000
which i think is sort of expensive. i cant imagine how the "porsche repairer" can justify $7000 in a such a minor incident
