Hi,

While replacing the speakers throughout my 406 Coupe - I had occasion to remove the drivers side door card. To my surprise I found some sort of control unit with the plug out (looks factory to me)

.

Before I reconnect it and start blowing things up (I am guessing someone disconnected it for a reason!) can anyone enlighten me as to its function.

Of course I suspect something to do with central locking. Here's a short list of what is/isn't working

Working:
  • Electric windows
  • Central locking via door key
  • Rear view mirror tilting
Not working
  • Mirror folding
  • Remote central locking
I thought the central locking unit was behind the glovebox, but I have yet to go looking for it.

It's a 1999 (D8 I think) pre-canbus.

Any advice would be much appreciated

Not all on them had folding mirrors
My 99 doesn’t
You could get out a multimeter and see if there is any reading on the pins of plug and unit.
Strange thing !!

Good luck
You could try the UK forums.
There a few of them.
May get a clue on there if no luck here.
