Hi all
A friend is looking at this for her daughters first car. It’s v well priced with lower K’s because of this diagnosed issue. Can anyone shed light on the attached diagnosis or repair? Thanks

How much did you pay?

Is it stuck open and doesn't run with a sump full of diesel or is it over-correcting on just that one cylinder? It may need one or more injectors replaced or possibly serviced. It's also possible there is some weakness on just that one cylinder or there is a split in a turbo hose. This engine is not tolerant of neglect as it has only a small sump capacity. First thing you'd do is check all of the injectors for loose hold-down bolts and carbon deposits on the head around the injectors. Injectors can be hard to remove on this engine if water has run down the side of the injectors.

So a 9HR 1.6 diesel.
Why can't inspectors give the codes, rather than an interpretation? Their readers often get maker specific codes wrong.

Is the fault P12A4 (injector open)?

Did you notice that inspection is dated 27 May? What has happened between then and now?
What gearbox? Manual would have a dual mass flywheel (Is it rattling?), so a clutch job can be more expensive than might be expected.

That will be a 'piloted manual', meaning EGS or automated manual with a regular dry-plate clutch and dual-mass flywheel. These are OK, but it's not quite the same as an auto with a torque converter and you can burn out the clutch if you slip it on hills thinking it's like a regular auto.

We’ve got a good fully serviced 308 wagon ready for reg hdi auto wagon. 2011. Touch screen dash. Great car.

Offer $500 and walk away.Men make them, men can fix them!

You can get a bargain if you can identify issues. I know a chap who bought a late car for a couple of hundred dollars because it was drenched underneath in oil and a mechanic had told the owner it was economically unrepairable. Naturally it wasn't and a day's work had it good again.

In this present case I'd like to have known the OBD codes.

True, but often 'cost effectively' is the obstacle. Some individuals also have a real knack for ensuring the unbroken become the broken!
